About Julia
I have always felt a genuine love and respect for the ways of nature and I do my best to understand nature's poetic laws. For me, a spiritual life does not escape the body, but absolutely includes it, and this may be why I fell in love so long ago with all that yoga has to offer. I've been practicing yoga since 1993, and began teaching yoga in 2003. I was certified to teach by Alison West of Yoga Union, and I taught for many years at studios throughout New York including Go Yoga, Kusala Yoga, and Starr Space. I did this while also writing music and touring with my beloved band Edison Woods.
As my teaching continued, it became increasingly important to me to work with people on a more personal level than I could do in large group classes. So in 2008, I opened a studio of my own, where I could keep classes small and work with people on a more personal scale. Over the years, I also expanded my studies and my services to include Herbal Medicine, as well as Reiki, so that I could support the individuals I was working with in a more comprehensive way. Now, the majority of my work is One-On-One Consultations, though I do still love very much teaching Group Classes
as well.
When I work with an individual, I work comprehensively with the body, the psyche, and the energetic levels altogether. This has proven to bring about much deeper, more lasting changes. I have found that the more angles from which we work to address an issue or set of issues, the more successful we can be at cracking that shell. I particularly love encouraging people to get back in touch with the natural elements as allies, teachers, healers and friends. In doing so, a person becomes re-empowered in many many ways.
Ultimately, my hope is not only to support a person along their particular path of health and healing, but to also facilitate a state of expansion, and a more soul-centered life.
